Doukhobour Community Welcome and Cultural Exchange (Spring 2007):
We were honored to be welcomed by the Krestova Doukhobor Community to share their cultural and spirituality understandings.
The evening began with a traditional celebratory meal where borscht was served, prepared special for the occasion, along with overflowing tables of contributions from the community. We then moved upstairs for a traditional prayer service, filled with acapella singing, followed by an informal discussion on Andean and Doukhobor spirituality. We even had the opportunity to witness impromtu performances by some of the children. The moments of mutual understanding and respect for a spiritual foundation that connected across continents, cultures and language were palatable. It was certainly a magical moment in our experiences.
